Maya apne sewak nun vi apne hatthin daye mita;
Jivein sappni aap hi jamm ke apne bachche laindi kha. Aukarh vele maya rani kise nun sakdi nahin bacha; Vaang baandri pairan hethan apne bachche laye daba. Par bhagtan ton maya rani har vele hi dardi ey; Kahe avtar guru bhagtan da har dam pani bhardi ey. |

The worldly wealth does ruin even the one who serves it;
Just as the she-serpent eats its own progeny. The queen of worldly wealth cannot save anyone at the time of ordeal; Like a monkey mother, it will put its own off springs under its paws. But the queen of worldly wealth is always afraid of true devotees, Avtar says, it is always at the beck and call of the devotees of the True Master. |
Meaning
The wordly wealth can take away our devotion if we fall to its (worldly wealth) prey. Just like a mother snake eats its own child. In the times of difficulty, this worldly wealth cannot save us. Just like a monkey mother, it will put its own child under its paws. But the worldly wealth is always afraid of true devotees. Here Baba Avtar Singh ji says, there are no side effects of this worldly wealth on the devotees of the True Master. It always remains under control of the devotee.
